Our story so far……

I want to share something with you, our story so far. How The Teachers’ Hub developed from a dream to a reality. A dream doesn’t become a reality through magic, it takes sweat, determination, and hard work.

Let me take you back to the start, as you may know, I left my job as a Director back in November 2018 to spend some time with my family, welcome my daughter into the world and create something special, The Teachers’ Hub. We welcomed baby Hannah into the world on December 4th (A little earlier than anticipated, and a tiny 5lb 1oz bundle of loveliness). l thoroughly enjoyed some time off, getting to know our new edition and finding a new rhythm to the house of three children, a puppy (Barney the Lagotto) and my husband to be. It was absolutely amazing and time that I treasured – even the sleepless nights.

Every end is a new beginning

January quickly arrived, the desire to create my own specialist recruitment consultancy was as strong as ever, I knew that there was a gap in the market for The Teachers’ Hub and I went straight to work, putting pen to paper and created my ‘to do’ list. This contained everything from registering the company name, branding, logo design, to creating our clearance policy and procedures. The list seemed daunting and with the sleepless nights it was a struggle, I had some weeks where nothing was ticked off and others which were more successful. But this was ok, I had a new baby and she was my priority and I knew that everything would come together in time.

In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity

My aim was to be fully operational by Easter, I missed this deadline. We just weren’t ready to enter the market and as a new business the timing needs to be perfect. Luckily for me, there was no rush and I enjoyed time with Hannah and gave myself an extra couple of weeks to tie up the loose ends.

As we entered mid-May I was ready to start interviewing teachers and cover supervisors, this was such a joyous moment and marked a turning point in my journey. We were meeting candidates! We were sampling the new compliance and vetting procedure and it worked perfectly, seamless in-fact! Compliance plays a vital role in the recruitment process and the policies and procedures that had been put in place needed to work. Signing off the first file proved that we had the right policies and procedures in place to ensure the safeguarding of our schools and ourselves. This was a moment that was celebrated – we had confidence that our product worked.

The next step was the most daunting of all, I had teachers and cover supervisors cleared for work and ready for work – it was now up to me to do my job. I had spent the past 6 months ticking off boxes on my to-do list, in a little baby bubble, going to meetings with Hannah at my side, discussing my plans and reaching out. But now I had to deliver. I started to doubt myself, will I be remembered, has the market moved on, will I be able to do my job?

What is coming is better than what has gone

At the beginning of June one of my amazing and loyal schools picked up the phone to me and asked for a teacher, I remained calm and completed my job with nervous energy bubbling over. I secured the school a brilliant teacher, emailed through the booking confirmation with the candidates vetting profile. I then jumped around the kitchen, little Hannah giggling and I cried. Cried tears of joy and tears of relief, I can do this and the business is going to be a success.

From here it has been a whirlwind, we have received bookings on a regular basis and have secured teachers into assignments for September 2019. I can not describe the feeling, it is tremendous. I have created something amazing all while taking care of my amazing and beautiful baby girl (Hannah is by far the best business partner!).

I have worked incredibly hard and I am incredibly lucky and thankful. I really do thank my lucky stars every day. Thank you, everyone, for your support and loyalty – you have no idea how you’re helping my business. When you use The Teachers’ Hub, an actual person (me) does a little happy dance.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed learning about our journey so far – appreciate where you are in your journey, even if it’s not where you want to be. Every season serves a purpose.
